Why We Are Ditching 'New Year's Resolutions' for 2026 (And What We Are Doing Instead)

As the office quiets down and the festive lights go up, there is a natural pressure to look back at the spreadsheets and KPIs to measure "Success."

But this year, we wanted to take a moment to look past the numbers.

There is a common myth in business and in life: The Myth of Linear Growth. We grow up thinking success looks like a straight line pointing up and to the right. Step 1 leads to Step 2, which leads to Step 3.

If 2025 taught us anything, it’s that growth isn't always linear.

Real growth looks more like a scribble. It’s a series of pivots, small wins, late nights, and lessons learned the hard way. It’s taking two steps forward, one step back, and sometimes standing still just to catch your breath.

The Trap of "New Year, New Me"

Every December, the world tells us we need to reinvent ourselves on January 1st. We need to set massive, audacious goals. We need to wake up at 4 AM, run marathons, and double our revenue by February.

But resolutions built on Intensity usually burn out by March.

This year, we are entering 2026 with a different mindset. We aren't making a list of "Resolutions." We are making a commitment to Consistency.

  • Consistency isn't flashy.
  • Consistency doesn't go viral.
  • But Consistency is the only thing that actually moves the needle.

It’s about showing up on the days when you don't feel like it. It’s about shipping the code even if it’s not perfect. It’s about answering the customer support email with kindness even when you are tired.

Watch: A Moment of Reflection

We put together a short visual reflection on what this journey has meant to us this year. No business talk, just real vibes.

What We Are Leaving Behind

To move forward, you have to let go of what is weighing you down. As a team, we sat down and asked ourselves: "What are we leaving in 2025?"

Here is our list:

  • 1. Perfectionism: We are trading "Perfect" for "Done." We learned that waiting for the perfect moment usually means missing the moment entirely.
  • 2. Comparison: It is easy to look at competitors or peers and feel behind. In 2026, we are only comparing ourselves to who we were yesterday.
  • 3. The "Busy" Badge: Being busy isn't a status symbol. Being effective is. We are leaving the hustle culture behind in favor of focused work.

Over to You

We want to say a massive Thank You to this community. Whether you have been with us since day one or you just joined yesterday, you are part of our journey, and we are honored to be part of yours.

We hope you take this festive season to unplug, recharge, and celebrate your own non-linear growth.

So, we have one question for you:

What is one thing you are leaving behind in 2025?

(Drop us a reply on social media or just write it down for yourself. Let’s make 2026 the year of consistency.)

Happy Holidays from the whole team at App Design Hub.
